Ten years after her book "Teapots Transformed: Subject to Object" was first published, Leslie Ferrin will discuss and present new work by artists featured in the book and introduce work by artists who continue to be drawn to everyone's favorite decorative object.

NEWS: Richard Notkin

Given United States Artists Fellowship Award One of fifty artists, Richard Notkin was awarded an unrestricted grant of $50,000 in recognition of his unique and vital contributions to the field.

CHICAGO, IL, November 10, 2008—United States Artists (USA), the national artists’ advocacy organization, today announced the recipients of fifty USA Fellowships for 2008 totaling $2.5 million. This marks the third consecutive year of the USA Fellows program, which provides direct support for artists by annually awarding fifty unrestricted grants of $50,000 to artists of all disciplines from across the country. The USA Fellows for 2008 hail from 21 states and range in age from 31 to 82; they were chosen by panels of experts in each field in recognition of the caliber and impact of their work.

Five Chairs by Michael Zelehoski and "Reclining Deer" by Gordon Chandler are on exhibit during Berkshire Museum's Festival of Trees. The theme for this year's annual festival is "going green". Both artists are well known for their reuse of found materials.

CONFRONTATIONAL CERAMICS

Works by Ferrin Gallery sculptors CYNTHIA CONSENTINO, RAYMON ELOZUA, SERGEI ISUPOV, KATY RUSH are included in CONFRONTATIONAL CLAY, curated by Judith Schwartz. On view through December 13th, this is one of sixty exhibitions in ALL FIRED UP, a series of coordinated shows on ceramics at locations throughout Westchester County this fall.

Confrontational Clay highlights the work of over 60 artists creating original and riveting work that prompts viewers to see clay as a medium completely unbound from its tradition, as these artists confront social, political, and environmental issues that effect us all.
