The artists in COUPLES maintain separate professional identities, independent gallery representation and, in some cases, studios located quite far apart. Some of the couples work in adjacent spaces and occasionally create collaborative works. In the case of Robert and Shana ParkeHarrison, their photography is completely created in a collaborative process presented under one name. The unifying factor between them all is a high level of mutual support and ongoing intellectual inspiration. In their statements, many artists discuss how their personal relationship affects their work and lives.
