Ferrin Gallery
May - June 2004 Schedule

May 22, Season Opening, Lenox, MA
Reception: 4 - 6pm

Ferrin Gallery formally opens for the season in its new location, 69 Church Street, in Lenox, (formerly the Ute Stebich Gallery) on Saturday, May 22, 2004 with a reception from 4 - 6 pm. The opening installation, "SALUTATIONS: New Art, New Space" will present several one person shows, of both two and three dimensional art, by regional artists.

Ferrin Gallery, established in 1979, has long been known as one of the nation’s premier galleries specializing in ceramic art and sculpture. With the new and larger location, it has expanded their scope by adding new artists to their roster, many of whom work two dimensionally.

The first installation focuses on new work by area artists and includes the painters Joan Barber, Bart Elsbach, Maggie Mailer, and photographer Ann Parker. Three dimensional art includes ceramic sculpture by Cynthia Consentino, Mara Superior and studio pottery by Michael McCarthy, Mark Shapiro and Sam Taylor. Metal sculpture by Gordon Chandler, who grew up in Lenox but now lives in Georgia, will be shown both inside the gallery and outdoors in an adjacent garden area.

June 3 - 6, SOFA New York

At SOFA New York, Ferrin Gallery will focus entirely on the Isupov family with selections from their upcoming show, "A Family of Artists", opening in Lenox on June 19. In 1991, Sergei Isupov, a ceramic sculptor, immigrated to the US where he has enjoyed a successful career as an artist. He had been living in Estonia for several years while his family, who are also artists, remained in Kiev, Ukraine. His younger brother, Ilya Isupov, is a painter; his mother, Nelli Isupova is a folk artist working in ceramics, and his father, Vladimir Isupov, is also a painter. The family is well known for their artwork in Kiev but this is first time their work will be shown together in the US. SOFA New York opens with a benefit preview on Wednesday, June 2 and is located at the Seventh Regiment Armory, Park Avenue & 67th Street. SOFA Info
